Group Shoot Experience with Fiona from the Podcast Expert

Hello!

 

I first met Fiona through a mutual Facebook group where she joined my first ever Group Shoot Experience and I absolutely love her wit and sense of humour!  She’s the expert in podcasts and getting PR for your podcast and she’s a pretty big deal!  But this was bought home to me when I then photographer her at the Podcast show and saw her in action and then again recently at Bee Inspired.  Needless to say, I’m a big fan!  So you have to get to know her too….

 

 

What first got you into your field?

I was due to start a journalism degree and went to work at the BBC for the Summer and ended up in the PR team and stayed for 9 years. I then was in TV for another 4 years before going on maternity leave and setting up my own PR agency working on podcasts.

 

What’s your favourite thing about the work that you do?

I love helping people see how podcasts can bring so much to a business or mission. I love coming up with the idea for a show that I know I can get PR for because it’s still so exciting to me hearing or seeing people featured in the press talking about their passions.

 

 

“I have literally never liked a professional photo of myself before and I was worried about being super awkward. Instead i loved pretty much all the photos and it was such a comfortable experience, dare I say a little bit fun even.

It was just fun, and Amanda was quick as well so I didn’t have to think about anything for too long. She is a pro at getting her shots quickly.

I have had such a lovely reaction and feedback to the ones I have posted. I think they capture my energy well and people like seeing me happy and comfortable. They also make me look very professional which is nice.”

 

 

What is a ‘reality’ of your work that other people don’t realise?

That starting a podcast is pretty easy, the hard bit is being clear on the idea and why you are doing it. If you can do that work upfront you will be so much better off for it.

 

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given? (can be on anything!)

To not compare yourself to other people. It can be so easy to look at someone who is already doing something and think you are behind but it’s just not the case. So don’t let it hold you back.

 

What’s your cocktail / mocktail of choice?

I love a bramble!
