I’m thrilled to bring you another episode of the Amanda Photographers Lounge and I loved chatting with the amazing Jacquie Laws from Bailey and Roo. Jacquie is a brand strategist with a true gift for drawing out the essence of personal brands, and she shared some incredible insights that I’m excited to pass along.
As photographers, we often get so wrapped up in capturing our clients’ brands that we forget to focus on our own. Jacquie and I discussed how crucial it is for us to develop and maintain a strong personal brand that sets us apart in a crowded market. Your personal brand isn’t just about logos and colours—it’s about how people feel about you and what they say when you’re not in the room. It’s about showcasing who you are, your unique style, and how you connect with your audience.
Jacquie emphasised the importance of starting with a deep understanding of who you are, your vision for your business, and the clients you want to attract. Whether you’re just starting out or have been in business for years, this process of self-discovery and brand building is essential. She also reminded us that our personal brand is ever-evolving, just like the big brands we admire, and it’s important to reassess and tweak our branding as we and our businesses grow.
One of the key takeaways from our conversation was the idea of showing up as your authentic self. Whether it’s through your messaging, your visuals, or how you interact with clients, being true to who you are will help you stand out and attract your ideal clients. And don’t forget, it’s okay to have fun with your brand! Whether it’s naming your packages or choosing how much of your personal life to share, your brand should feel aligned with who you are.
So, if you’re looking to refresh your personal brand or just need a nudge to start thinking about it, this episode is for you. Jacquie’s advice is invaluable, and she even left us with a practical exercise: take a step back and look at your brand through the eyes of your dream client. Does it reflect what you want them to see? If not, what changes can you make?
Tune in to the full episode to get all of Jacquie’s tips and start building a personal brand that truly reflects you!
