Well, Summer brand shoot season is here and I am so excited for the shoots that I’ve got booked in – there have been lots of planning calls, moodboards created and shoot plans put together! On top of that, I’m planning my own brand shoot too for next month, so lots going on.
And with all these summer vibes I wanted to share some inspiration for your own summer brand shoot, and if you’ve not got it booked yet, there are some summer dates still available – just drop me a message and let’s get planning!
Summer shoots make you think of sunny days, being outside either relaxing or working. So have a think about the type of outdoor setting you want for your shoot. The big thing to think about, as with any time of the year is the time of day, especially look to avoid shooting in harsh midday sunshine when you may have no cloud cover to soften those rays.
Timings for a beach shoot are so important – the middle of the day is not only unforgiving with the light, but it’s likely to be busier, especially if you’re having a shoot during the school holidays. So aim to have your beach brand shoot first thing, the light will be lovely and you may even have the beach to yourself (with exception of the occasional dog walker)
Happen to be traveling this summer and was to have a brand shoot, well, photographers do travel (especially this one!) so why not double up some of your travels with having a shoot – that’s what you have this freedom based business for right?! Just last month I hopped on the Eurostar for the day, am off to Malta this weekend (albeit this time as a guest and a tourist) and have a couple of other potential destination shoots lined up for later in the year.
When having a destination brand shoot, make sure you’ve clearly thought about the images you want/need and the outfits and props you’ll need for that in advance, because there’s no just nipping home to get something on this one!
Now, as I write this post we have had sunshine and rain in the space of a few hours, so whilst you might be planning an outdoor summer brand shoot, best to have some indoor locations or a back up date in mind so that you’re not caught in a downpour on shoot day
Ready to create some gorgeous summer imagery for your brand?
Whatever you decide you need for your summer brand shoot, don’t forget the preparation is key – have a think about when and where you’ll use these images, what messages you want to convey and what aspects of your brand you want to bring out.
