A personal brand shoot in London with business consultant Katherine Allan

Katherine’s half day personal brand shoot in London started at home, because as by definition, for a personal brand shoot, it’s not just about capturing you at work, it’s about showing the personal side to you, the real person behind the business name.  So, we started with her love of her dog and her painting to show the friendly approachable side to her, which immediately shines through the first time you talk to her – but that’s also needing to be shown in brand imagery so that potential clients pick up the phone in the first place.

 

Once we’d then captured some working from home photos, and her in her element planning and working on strategy, we headed into the City and captured the more professional friendly side of her to complete the set.  And thankfully narrowly missed the rain!

 

“I didn’t have any fears about working with Amanda, I just wanted to be sure my personality would be captured rather than ‘any old photoshoot’. The images were fantastic and showed all areas of my life that makes me, me!

I liked that we started off with a relaxing vibe. Playing with my dog and being outside. My favourite place to be…made it much easier to get into the flow.

Katherine is a business consultant specialising in organisational design, change management and transformational project.  She works with her clients to nurture the team’s performance and build organisational efficiency.

 

What first got you into your field?

I moved through Marketing, Account Management and Operations Leadership before I ended up in Change & Transformation. I knew I wanted to work on large projects, coupling Digital and Culture together but to get there I had to try out the ropes in a few different areas to know that this is what I wanted to do.

 

What’s your favourite thing about the work that you do?

People often have a vision in their head, and often it’s fairly clear but they have relatively little idea how to get there. I enjoy helping them realise their aspirations and making it seem seemless along the way.

 

What is a ‘reality’ of your work that other people don’t realise? 

Because I’m pretty calm most people think I’m cruising through. The reality is this role involves a lot of juggling. Personalities, priorities and politics are the three P’s! It’s a fine art to balance these things whilst achieving the end goal, and it’s not always easy!

 

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

People’s responses are rarely ‘about you’ but most usually about something else that’s going on for them. Understanding that has been key to calming a lot of situations and allowing myself to be considerate in challenging situations.
