A brand shoot in West London with jewellery designer Neeta from Somya London

I think West London has become a bit of a stomping ground for me of late – there are just so many great areas and locations for shoots whilst also keeping the variety I need for my clients!  And on a particularly warm day in the summer Neeta travelled into London to meet me to create some personal brand images for her jewellery design business Somya London.

We wanted to showcase the luxury feel to her business, so naturally a brand shoot in West London, more specifically around Chelsea were in order.  Choosing spots that represented that luxury and Neeta’s incredible sense of style was great fun, I love being able to pair up locations with a brand style and this one was no exception.

“My biggest worry was how to portray a jewellery brand and myself without having to have any cliche photographs.  Amanda understood this from the beginning of my initial call with her, which really put my mind at ease.

I loved being in Chelsea, my favourite part of London (Something that Amanda knew), its where I had worked for 7 years there are a lot of great memories there so I felt comfortable shooting in and around that area.

I would say Amanda is really laid back, friendly, very easy to talk to about your ideas and what you want to achieve from your photoshoot, she makes you feel really comfortable in front of the camera and is a great laugh.

The shoot images have really helped our brand get in front of our ideal clients and also tells a really nice story about the brand and business itself.”

So let’s find out more about Neeta and Somya London…

What first got you into your field?

My love for semi-precious stones I’ve collected Semi-Precious stones for as long as I can remember.  Being a fussy shopper, I only purchase fine thing such as jewellery if I LOVE it. I don’t have many pieces so I decided I’m going to launch my own jewellery company with jewellery designs that I love and are affordable for my customers.

What’s your favourite thing about the work that you do?

I enjoy everything about running my own business

I love seeing my jewellery on my customers, love it when they share their purchases on Instagram.  I love designing a new collection which is currently in process and a bit more bling than the last one.  I also love visiting India to shop around for unique semi-precious stones, something that I will miss out on this year due to Covid.

What is a ‘reality’ of your work that other people don’t realise?

The reality is that it’s not all as glamourous as our jewellery looks or our social media or website.

Running my own business means that I am wearing a lot of different hats. From sales and marketing to logistics on ordering stock to post the orders out to customers. It’s a lot of hard work and dedication, my business is something that I can never switch off from.

Social media is really time-consuming sometimes my mind goes blank and you don’t know what to post next haha that happens a lot!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

Advice from an ex-boss of mine just before I started my business – Do the things that you fear to do first, get it out of the way, so you can concentrate on other things with a clear mind for the rest of your day.

What’s your cocktail / mocktail of choice?

I love my cocktails and have more than one favourite!  Kir Royale, Singapore Sling and the classic Cosmopolitan.
