London brand shoot with Corporate Strategist Carol Deveney

Hello!

 

It’s time for another shoot showcase!  This time, it’s the incredible Carol Deveney, who I first met on Lisa Johnson’s Destination Inspiration Retreat in Croatia in October 2021 where each attendee had a mini shoot.  Carol is a rare breed in that she has the ability of taking away any fear entrepreneurs have with working with corporate businesses.  Carol wore the most incredible green dress on her mini shoot, and then when we had her full Content Brand Shoot in London a few months later, she had even more amazing outfits, I love it when clients embrace colour and their style (even though I’m definitely a lover of black clothes too!)

 

Having been in the corporate world myself, I know it has a bad rap, and remember going from Local Authority to “The City” felt a bit like I was Alice Through the Looking Glass!  But as Carol pointed out during our Croatia chats – Corporates are people too and they need the services of entrepreneurs.  In fact her book “The Gap In the Middle”* is a must read if working with corporate clients is something you’ve been thinking about.

So let’s get to know Carol a bit more shall we….

 

 

What first got you into your field?

Working in corporate for over 20 years I have seen corporates try to increase the number of Small and medium enterprises they work with. I also saw entrepreneurs with great ideas, products and services wanting to work with corporates. Both parties wanting the same outcome but a massive gap in the middle so I started my business to help bridge that gap.

 

What’s your favourite thing about the work that you do?

I’m a people person with a huge results focus so a business that allows me to work with people I like and help them get great results is a joy for me to work on.

 

 

 

“I would say working with you is a dream as you are a reassuring, creative and lovely photographer. The shoot is relaxed which means you are relaxed having your photos taken and the shots come out amazing. You give direction in an understandable and nice way.  I have been able to use them to get coverage on The Times and on social media. They create a coherent visual for my brand.”

 

 

What is a ‘reality’ of your work that other people don’t realise?

That growing my network is a people focused activity and that the business comes after that not before.

 

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given? (can be on anything!)

That any boundaries on what can you achieve are merely constructs in your mind. There is no limit on potential or what you can achieve.

 

What’s your cocktail / mocktail of choice?

Cosmopolitan or if I am at the beach it’s a pina colada

(anyone else now singing the song “If you like pina coladas!? Nope, just me!)
